Really good diner! Probably one of the best diner experiences specially for the price! Would definitely recommend this place. Coffee is pretty bad, but the food is delicious. Nothing fancy or special, but good comfort food. The frecnch toast is my favorite, really well made. The service is great, staff is really nice and attentive. Eggs, potatoes, omelets are all good.

Rae's hasn't changed in many years. That's probably the best part of visiting this restaurant. This is just a classic west coast diner. Once you sit down and look around you know exactly what's gonna show up on your plate. The staff are friendly and the prices are what you'd expect to pay. If you're looking for quinoa just keep walking. Clarence & Alabama recommend the pie. Bring cash with ya partner....

Spent the past week in Santa Monica and I’m sad we waited til the last day to visit Rae’s! Best meal we had all week at a great price. Arrived around 10am and they got us in fairly quickly. Don’t expect anything too fancy but that’s to be expected at an old-school establishment. Around $10 for eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. Orange juice was freshly squeezed and about $4 for 12oz. Would love if the potatoes were seasoned a bit more with some type of seasoning but besides that, the meal was 10/10. They now accept cards for payment which was a nice surprise! Will definitely be back on the first day during our next visit to Santa Monica.

Overall a 5 ⭐️ as I've been going to Rae's for over 30 years and little has changed. The only thing to go for is breakfast. The car park is now a gazebo covered 'patio' area. Expect wobbly tables, fairly indifferent service but also a really good value, old school diner breakfast. I hope it outlasts me! Do I recommend it? YES Will I return? YES Is it good value? I have been coming to Rae's for several years and have always loved the old fashioned ambiance and the quality food. Unfortunately, something has changed for Rae's, and not for the better. In the past, service has been speedy, efficient, and nothing short of amazing. However, after dining here this last weekend, I was greatly disappointed across the board. I had to wait an unusually long amount of time to place my order and then receive my food. A few of the original staff members have remained however, the new staff does not seem to understand the old Rae's way of doing things. And, they were unaccommodating and unapologetic when hearing about my negative experience. I am sad to have seen other reviews on here that echo my same sentiment and it disappointing to say the least. It is unfortunate that this is what comes with their new ownership. I will not be coming back to Rae's and am only left with the memories of what once was. I hope that the new owners are able to see this feedback and take it to heart. This is the only way they can improve what they have already began deteriorating. If you are considering dining here, do not.

I've been eating at Rae's for decades and the food is consistently just "ok" while the booths and tables have never changed. But you don't just eat at Rae's for the food or the funky booth setups, you go for the experience. If you love a nostalgic diner (open over 70 years) that has a storied history (multiple films have been shot here) than you have to eat at Rae's. If you're really hungry, get the Hobo Breakfast with all the meat, eggs and pancakes you could want in a morning meal!
